If you thumb through the pages of US Weekly you often see the question asked “Who Wore it Best?” While that publication usually goes with Hollywood Celebrities who happened to wear a similar dress, t-shirt or suit, we ask the same question on this Memorial Day about the Knockouts Title. Simply put, who wears it best? The Knockouts Championship itself is filled with prestige as we look back at the title’s history.
The Knockouts Championship was born on October 14th, 2007 at Bound For Glory. In a Gauntlet Match that involved Angelina Love, Jackie Moore, Awesome Kong and others it was Hall of Famer Gail Kim who became the first Knockouts Champion on that night in Georgia.
There have been 50 Knockouts Championship reigns between 19 different Knockouts. Thursday night on IMPACT at Under Pressure Allie will defend the Knockouts against Su Yung and we wonder if our next Championship reign will take place on Thursday or if Allie can retain her title.
While we await that Championship match, we dive deeper into the potential Knockouts that might win the Title in the near future.
“Undeniable” Tessa Blanchard
Tessa Blanchard is a 3rd Generation Knockout who packs a punch and an overall feeling of pure confidence and she knows exactly how good she is inside the ring.
Tessa has already terrorized Kiera Hogan, however it seems she has also caught the attention of former 5x Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne. She hardly seems worried at all, reminding IMPACTWrestling.Com that she isn’t here to make friends, but rather to show the entire world why she is undeniable. Is the Knockouts Championship in the future of Tessa Blanchard?
The girlfriend of Grado, Katarina has caused quite a bit of chatter amongst IMPACT fans for her choice in boyfriend, but we all know that Katarina is quite the accomplished athlete. As “Winter,” Katarina captured the Knockouts Championship on 2 different occasions, both in 2011. Now that Katarina is back on IMPACT Wrestling can she become a 3x Knockouts Champion?
Katarina might have surprised us all when she returned as the girlfriend of Grado, however longtime fans of IMPACT won’t be shocked at all if Katarina is able to win the Knockouts Championship.
“The Undead Bride” Su Yung
Su Yung came to IMPACT and in the span of a very short time she turned on the panic switch. Su went right after Allie and then put the body of Rosemary in a coffin, closed the lid and then burned the coffin to ashes. The Undead Bride is maniacal and deranged and that may take her right to the Knockouts Title on Thursday against Allie.
She is Lucha Royalty, she is Taya Valkyrie and if we are being honest, we thought by this time Taya would have already captured the Knockouts Title. Taya has all the tools necessary to become Champion. She is poised and powerful and it seems Taya and the Knockouts Title are destined for each other at some point in her career.
So if the question is “when” more so than it is “if” for Taya Valkyie, when will it happen? When will Taya take hold of the title? Also, when she does, what will it take to remove the Championship from her?
The Girl on Fire from Atlanta, Georgia Kiera Hogan is just getting started in her career. Kiera is young, energetic, athletic and smart. A lethal combination for someone as driven as Kiera Hogan. It wasn’t that long ago that Kiera was talking about her career and start with IMPACT Wrestling.
Can Kiera Hogan continue to climb the ranks in IMPACT and eventually capture the Knockouts Championship? Remember, in her debut match Kiera was able to defeat then Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness.
Allie is in the middle of a very successful Knockouts Championship reign, this is her time. Can Allie continue to succeed? Can Allie get past Su Yung on Thursday? There is no reason to think not. In a matter of weeks, Allie defeated Taya Valkyrie at WrestleCon, followed by a victory over Su Yung at Redemption to retain her title and then had a second successful outing against Taya Valkyrie on IMPACT.
For Allie to retain this week, she might need some added motivation and luckily she has it. Allie was forced to watch as Su Yung and The Undead Bridesmaids destroyed The Demon Assassin.
What will happen this Thursday at Under Pressure when Allie defends her title against Su Yung?
The Queen Bee is back! The 5x Knockouts Champion and 2x Knockouts Tag Team Champion has returned to IMPACT and the return was intended to be calling the action as a color analyst. However, Madison Rayne couldn’t sit back and watch Tessa Blanchard run roughshod over Kiera Hogan and jumped back into action. Thursday at Under Pressure Madison Rayne makes her official return to the IMPACT ring against Tessa.
Madison Rayne explained herself last week on the IMPACT weekly Teleconference which you can listen to here. Madison talked about not being comfortable watching someone like Tessa try to take advantage of a fallen Kiera Hogan.
Tessa further insulted Madison this past Thursday night when she reminded the former Beautiful People member, that she is a “stay at home mother,” and she should just, “stay at home.”
Cleary Tessa hasn’t been following the career of Madison Rayne over the past year. Madison has been competing all over the Unites States and seeing the future of women’s wrestling.
Madison vs. Tessa will go a long way in determining who might be next in line to challenge for the Knockouts Title. That is after Su Yung faces Allie on IMPACT this week. Under Pressure features two Knockouts matches that are must see.
So who wears it best? It is nearly impossible to answer that question and there are more names. How about Knockouts waiting to make their returns, like Sienna or Diamante? There are also female wrestlers out there just waiting for the chance to compete in our Knockouts Division! Whoever holds the title, better keep their head on a swivel as it’s a very exciting time for our Knockouts. The next challenge is right around the corner!
