WWE Hall of Famers JBL and Ron Simmons were a part of one of the most famous tag teams in WWE history, The APA.

The team originally started out as a duo named The Acolytes and were part of The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness stable. The Ministry of Darkness eventually dissolved and the tag team went a different direction, eventually forming the APA. It was from there that the APA became one of the long running staples of WWE programming, and helping add to their eventual Hall of Fame resumes.

In light of everything that is currently going on in our country, JBL posted a picture of himself and Farooq (Ron Simmons) as members of the APA to his instagram, along with a message about how WWE had originally wanted to make a big deal about the two being one of the first mixed race tag teams in wrestling. An idea which was quickly shut down by Simmons. JBL wrote:

“A writer in WWE suggested one time making a big deal out of us being one of first mix raced teams in a major promotion. Ron killed it immediately. Ron explained this is about best friends, not about race. It just didn’t matter to us. It never should.”
